ROLE: Community Liaison – Borroloola, NT & Cairns,Queensland & Tennant Creek, NT

The Opportunity

This exciting position is integral to Moriarty Foundation’s successful operation in Borroloola, NT.

You have a passion for building relationships in the community and this role will make sure Moriarty Foundation maintains its mission to deliver locally-driven programs. You are a good communicator who enjoys working with both children and adults and passionate about creating positive change for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

You will be an important part of the local Moriarty Foundation Hub team, working closely with the local program teams to ensure John Moriarty Football and Indi Kindi are running smoothly in schools and the community.

Stakeholder Relationships – Culture and Community

  • Act as the local Moriarty Foundation representative for community interagency meetings and engagements, upholding the organisation’s values and code of conduct at all times.
  • Chair Moriarty Foundation Community Advisory Group meetings.
  • In collaboration with the JMF Lead Coach – Community and Indi Kindi Program Manager, develop and maintain relationships to input into program development and delivery and inform how Moriarty Foundation operates in the community e.g. parents, Elders, school principals, local football clubs, early years stakeholders and health organisations.
  • Keep records of meetings and follow up any actions, in collaboration with the Manager, Hub Operations if required.
  • Promote the Moriarty Foundation program/s to encourage participation and increase community impact.
  • Develop deep cultural awareness to inform operational and delivery decisions in a respectful, professional and sensitive way.

Team engagement

  • Participate in local and national team meetings for ongoing knowledge sharing.
  • Provide regular updates to the JMF Lead Coach – Community, Indi Kindi Program Manager and local Indi Kindi team from community meetings to keep them informed of local developments.
  • Contribute to a positive team culture by displaying Moriarty Foundation values.
  • Support other hub activities that contribute to a positive and engaging team environment.
  • Actively participate in national and local staff development opportunities within Moriarty Foundation.

  • Organisation: Good record keeping skills and the ability to follow up on actions independently.
