Closing the gap

Closing the Gap with Indi Kindi

Today is National Close the Gap Day. When it comes to closing the gap, issues can’t be tackled in isolation. Indi Kindi may be predominantly an early learning program but we also focus on improving the health and wellbeing of the children, families, staff and community members involved.

We also believe that achieving long-term improvement in health, education, wellbeing and employment outcomes in remote and regional Aboriginal communities can only be created with an Aboriginal worldview and strong connections to culture and family.

If more programs can adopt this approach, Australia will be in a much stronger position to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to close the gap and break the cycle of intergenerational disadvantage.
