About JMF

John Moriarty Football (JMF) is Australia’s longest running and most successful Indigenous football initiative for 2-18 year olds. JMF’s transformational skills program uses football for talent and positive change – with a track record of improving school attendance and achieving resilient, healthier outcomes for some of Australia’s most remote Indigenous communities.

JMF was established Borroloola, in the remote Gulf of Carpentaria, NT in 2012. In the decade since, JMF has expanded its hubs to include Dubbo in NSW, Kuranda in QLD and Tennant Creek in NT.

Indigenous Football Week

Indigenous Football Week (IFW) is an annual John Moriarty Football (JMF) event and is all about the power of football to create change for good. IFW brings the football community together to support inclusion, cultural recognition and diversity.

In 2022, IFW is from 24 to 30 October, during round 4 of the Isuzu UTE A-League Men 2022/23 season. All funds raised during IFW go towards delivering JMF’s transformational football program in remote and regional Indigenous communities.

IFW22 Patron

We are very grateful to have the football superstar Mary Fowler as Patron for Indigenous Football Week 2022. Mary is one of the emerging superstars in world football. An adidas Ambassador, current Matilda and Manchester City player, she made her international debut for the Matilda’s at just 15 years of age.

“I’m incredibly honoured to be the Patron for Indigenous Football Week 2022. It’s an amazing opportunity to share the power and joy of football with Indigenous children around the world. I really like how John Moriarty Football is working to improve young Indigenous players’ access to the life-changing benefits of football. I’m proud to be part of this goal.” – Mary Fowler.

IFW22 Partners

We are grateful for the support from our official Indigenous Football Week 2022 partners.
