Tracey Holmes

Overview

Tracey Holmes is an award-winning International journalist focusing on the politics, governance and the business of sport and host and executive producer of The Sports Ambassador podcast.

She was Australia's first female host of a national sports program, ABC Grandstand, after starting as a specialist broadcast trainee in the late 80s.

Her directorships include being Deputy Chair of the Oceania Australia Foundation and a council member of Indigenous Football Australia. As an Olympic specialist, Tracey is also a member of the IOC's Press Committee and a Mentor for the IOC Young Reporters program. She is a member of the International Society of Olympic Historians.

In August 2025 she published her second book, 'The Eye of the Dragonfly', through Simon and Schuster, looking at what sport tells us about the world we all occupy based on my experiences living and working in different countries and cultures both as a child and an adult.

Tracey's awards include the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Australian Sports Commission, the IOC Women and Sports Award for Oceania, and numerous AIPS (International Sports Press Association) awards for programs that she researched, produced and presented.

Tracey has a Master of Communications degree and is currently completing a Masters in Sports Diplomacy at the Hungarian University of Sports Science.
