JMF has been delivering in the Dubbo region since 2019 and in 2024, it reached 300 local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people with its football skills program that has powerful impacts on health, education, wellbeing and connection to Country.
JMF Dubbo Community Coach, Brendan Fuller (Wiradjuri/Kamilaroi), said, “Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children in regional Australia rarely get the opportunity to experience elite football firsthand and we are very excited we can bring this to Dubbo. An event like this has the power to inspire kids.
“The good thing about JMF is not only are we providing a safe space for Indigenous kids that supports them to do well at school and be healthy, we also create pathways to take their football talent further.
“You never know, this event could inspire a future Indigenous Matilda or Socceroo.”
Western Sydney Wanderers CEO, Scott Hudson, said the club is excited to be a part of the clinic for NAIDOC Week, which also coincides with the FIFA Club World Cup, and bring the Wanderers’ elite-class coaching expertise to Dubbo.
“We’re delighted to partner with John Moriarty Football to deliver this clinic in Dubbo as part of NAIDOC Week. We want to be a club not just for the people of Western Sydney, but for the people of Western NSW, and it’s great that we’re able to come out and spend some time with the local community. ”
The event is supported by Professional Football Australia through the ‘Football for Good’ partnership with Common Goal.
