Sydney Pathways Experience 2024

2024 Sydney Pathways Experience

Thank you to everyone who supported John Moriarty Football‘s 2024 Sydney Pathways Experience and the 10 young Indigenous footballers and seven community coaches from our remote and regional hubs in NT, Qld and NSW.

These experiences are life changing for our young participants, many of whom have never traveled from their community before. It’s an opportunity to broaden their horizons and help them believe that a different future can be possible.

Our young participants enjoyed a fantastic week, including training sessions with Indigenous football stars, former Matilda Gema Simon and former A Leagues player Mark Bridge, and also Spirit FC Head of Football, Tim Thorne.

Highlights included a cultural excursion to Taronga Zoo, Barrenjoey Headland hike, tour of Westfields Sports High School, friendly match against Dee Why FC and see Melbourne Victory play North West Sydney Spirit at Christie Park.

“Thank you Moriarty Foundation for the week. The efforts the team has put in to make this happen for our young people and coaches is greatly appreciated; some great life experiences for our young people that they won’t forget.” – Joshua Williams (Wiradjuri), JMF Dubbo Head Coach and Mentor.

Coordinating this type of experience isn’t easy. It takes plenty of organisation and funding. It’s made possible thanks to the generous support from our donors and partners.

A tremendous thank you to everyone involved in making this experience possible, including Rexona, Manungurra, Westfields Sports High School, Taronga Zoo, Tim Thorne, Gema Simon, Mark Bridge, Stuart Nairn and Dee Why Football Club, plus our incredible local coaching and head office teams for their hard work.

Help us create more life-changing opportunities for young Indigenous footballers
