ROLE: JMF Community Coach – Kuranda (Qld)

John Moriarty Football (JMF) is seeking a full time Football Coach to support our program in Kuranda, Qld. JMF is a successful football and wellbeing program that was originally established in Borroloola and Robinson River, NT in 2012.

Do you enjoy sport and want to support children in developing their football skills and overall wellbeing? If the answer to this is yes, we would really like to talk to you about this exciting opportunity which will initially be for a 12 month period.

We are offering the successful candidate a great opportunity to learn football and coaching skills, whilst working with local children in Kuranda and the surrounding areas.

You will report to the JMF Coach & Mentor, as well as receiving additional training and support from the Sydney Head Office.

Key duties

Coaching & JMF Program Delivery

  • Coaching Delivery in Schools, Clubs, and other Sports Venues within Kuranda and surrounding areas.
  • Be a role model for staff and players in relation to behaviour, attendance, punctuality, and personal
    organisation.

Wellbeing and Nutrition

  • With the assistance of the Football Coach & Mentor, teach breathing techniques and other mindfulness ways to improve players' wellbeing on and off the field.
  • Assist with the preparation of nutritious meals for players.

Relationship Management & Operations

  • Ensure involvement and input into program development and delivery with parents, elders and community stakeholders.
  • Promote the Program’s staff and participants’ best interests.

Essential Criteria

  • Interest in football, currently a coach/or/ have a desire to develop football and coaching skills.
  • A passion for working with children.
  • Interest to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and commitment to helping create positive change amongst children in Indigenous communities.
  • Working with Children’s check (WWCC) and National Police Check.
  • Australian permanent resident.

Desired Criteria

  • Current Australian driver’s license.
