Moriarty Foundation is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO) dedicated to creating a future where Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children thrive and reach their potential. Established by Yanyuwa man John Moriarty AM and Ros Moriarty, the Foundation delivers two award-winning programs – Indi Kindi and John Moriarty Football (JMF) – that use education and sport to unlock children’s potential.
Moriarty Foundation is led by community voices and strong local relationships. We are guided by a commitment to compassion and equity to drive impacts that address community disadvantage. We prioritise local leadership and our programs are delivered by majority Indigenous teams.
THE ROLE
John Moriarty Football (JMF) uses the power of sport to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people to thrive and reach their potential. We are looking for a natural leader who loves football and cares about the community to lead our program in Dubbo.
In this role, you will lead a team of community coaches to deliver football, health, and wellbeing sessions in schools and across the community. You will also help find talented young players and support them as they move into higher levels of the game.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Lead the program: Run JMF sessions in schools, after-school groups, and holiday clinics that focus on football, health, wellbeing and healthy eating.
- Manage the team: Help hire, train, and mentor local community coaches so they can do their best work.
- Organise the details: Make sure all equipment is ready, schedules are set, and attendance is tracked.
- Support players: Use your football knowledge to identify, mentor and develop talented players and support them to reach their potential.
- Work with the community: Build strong, respectful relationships with families, schools, local football clubs and community organisations.
- Be a role model: Help create a happy and safe place for everyone by following our values and respecting local culture.
ABOUT YOU
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Leadership experience: You know how to manage a team, solve problems, and help people work well together.
- Football knowledge: You have coached or played football and understand what it takes for players to improve.
- Good communication: You are to communicate well with everyone, from young children and staff to community leaders.
- Respect for culture: You have a deep respect for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and communities and want to help children succeed.
- Organised: You are good at managing your time and keeping accurate records.
